The transmission graph of the lens shows a fully absorbtion of ultraviolet radiations (UVB, UVA). The blue radiations are cut down, reducing like this the light diffusion and increasing the visual acuity. At 554nm, where the human eye has his best colour vision acuity, the curve has a transmission's maxima surrounded by two minimas. This minima-maxima-minima pattern is responsible for high contrast.
